Cast in Bronze
Light, given permanence.
Every fixture begins as raw bronze and hand-blown glass, cast in small runs and finished by the same three hands that opened the fonderie. Nothing here is extruded.
Request a private viewingWe cast light the way founders cast bells.
A bell founder tunes metal by ear, pouring the same alloy a hundred different ways until one casting rings true. We do the same with light: the same bronze, the same glass, poured and ground until a single fixture holds a flame's warmth without a flicker.
Material anatomy
Silicon bronze
Cast in small batches, hand-ground to a satin finish that deepens with age rather than tarnishing away from it.
Hand-blown glass
Each shade is blown by a single glassworker in one session; no two carry the exact same wall thickness.
Brass hardware
Threaded fittings machined in-house, so a fixture can be re-wired decades from now.
Linen-wrapped cable
Woven flex in a tone matched to the bronze, never a bare rubber cord.
Oak mounting collar
European oak, oiled, the only softwood-adjacent material anywhere in the piece.
The atelier
Pattern
A wooden master pattern is carved by hand, one per fixture design, kept for the fonderie's lifetime.
Mould
Sand packed around the pattern in a two-part flask, struck flat, ready for a single pour.
Pour
Bronze melted past 1,900°F and poured in under a minute, before the alloy can begin to separate.
Break-out
The mould is broken away once cool, and the rough casting sees daylight for the first time.
Grinding
Sprues cut, seams ground flush, the surface taken from rough cast to a hand-satin finish.
Assembly
Glass, hardware, and cable fitted, wired, and tested before a piece ever leaves the bench.
Standard finish
One piece, one room, one life.
A fixture like this outlives the room it's hung in. This one has already survived two renovations.
