On and under the sea

The reef is the resort. Everything here is led by our marine team, timed to the tide and the light rather than the clock.

Reef at first light

A marine biologist walks you over the house reef before the day-trippers wake, when the colour is best.

Manta night dive

Drift the channel after dark under lantern light, where mantas come to feed in slow, silent arcs.

Sandbank breakfast

The boat drops you on a bar of white sand that vanishes by noon, with coffee and the whole sea to yourself.

Coral gardening

Fix a fragment to the nursery frame with the reef team and get a photo of it every year it grows.

The island runs on sun and grows its own dinner.

Isla runs off a solar array and a battery bank, so the generators stay dark on all but the stillest nights. Fresh water comes from our own desalination and rain catch, the kitchen garden and hydroponic house cover most of what reaches your plate, and the reef nursery has planted forty thousand coral fragments since we opened. We import as little as we can, and we ship nothing back that the sea would not thank us for.
